Describes the river along its entire course, pointing out areas of scenic and/or historical note, and includes 100 illustrations. The title page also indicated that there is a sectional map in a special pocket in the back, but the second edition includes neither the map nor the pocket. Dark blue cloth decoratively lettered in gilt with a illustration mounted on the front cover, top edge gilt, 590 pages plus two pages of publisher's advertisements. Covers are very clean and retain their deep blue color (no spine fading), some rubbing to the corners and spine ends, good hinges, sound text block, very clean pages free from chips, tears, names or other markings. A clean, sound and handsome copy.. Hard Cover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
